Project Coordinator – Construction

Position Scope

Coordinate construction projects from design review and procurement through execution, inspection, deficiency management and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review and distribution of architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation for completeness and project requirements.

  • Maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, bulletins, schedules, change documentation and related records.

  • Develop scopes of work and supporting documentation for contractor pricing and competitive tendering.

  • Prepare contracts, purchase orders and related project documentation.

  • Review contractor bids and compare scope, pricing and technical submissions.

  • Track construction budgets, commitments, progress and project milestones.

  • Review contractor progress claims and supporting documentation.

  • Coordinate consultants, contractors and internal technical teams throughout project execution.

  • Conduct site inspections to assess construction progress, workmanship and conformity with project requirements.

  • Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective work through completion.

  • Monitor required submissions, approvals, schedules and outstanding project deliverables.

  • Support demolition, renovation, restoration and improvement projects.

  • Review construction activities for compliance with applicable drawings, specifications, codes and technical standards.

  • Maintain accurate project records through completion and closeout.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in construction coordination, project coordination, construction management or a directly related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.

  • Practical knowledge of construction sequencing, contractor coordination and project documentation.

  • Experience preparing or reviewing scopes of work, tenders, contracts, purchase orders or progress claims.

  • Relevant post-secondary education, apprenticeship training, technical certification or professional coursework may include:

    • Construction Management

    • Architectural Technology

    • Engineering Technology

    • Building Systems

    • Project Management

    • Construction Engineering

    • Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Technology

    • Other directly related construction or technical programs

  • PMP, CAPM, Gold Seal, engineering/technology designation or comparable project/construction certification is an asset but not required.
