What KPI does, who else is involved when you verify something, how we make money, and what we are not promising. If anything here is unclear, ask us at info@kpi.ca.
What KPI is, and is not
KPI Inc. operates a job board and a set of verification and career services. We are not an employer of the candidates who hold profiles on the platform, and except where we are expressly engaged as a recruiter, we are not a party to the employment relationship between a candidate and an employer.
Job postings are supplied by employers or ingested from public sources. We review postings before they appear, but we do not independently verify every claim in them, and a posting appearing on KPI is not an endorsement of the employer.
Verification and third parties
Identity verification is carried out by Stripe Identity. Your identity document and selfie are sent to Stripe; KPI receives a pass or fail result and the name printed on the document, which we compare to your profile. We never receive the document images.
Financial verification is carried out by Plaid. Your banking credentials are sent to your bank through Plaid and never reach KPI. We receive confirmation of the account holder's name and contact details in order to confirm the match.
Criminal record and background checks are carried out by an accredited screening provider. You consent to that check and provide your details to the provider directly as part of the process. The provider holds the full report; KPI stores a reference to your case and the outcome, not the report itself.
Compensation estimates may draw on third-party market data alongside KPI's own job postings and placement history. Where a figure comes from outside KPI, the report says so.
How we are paid
Job postings are free and unlimited. There is no fee for an employer to shortlist candidates.
Background checks are charged per check, at the price shown before you commit. Where an employer sponsors a candidate's check, the employer is charged and the candidate is told so before they begin.
Some candidate features are offered on a paid plan. Where a report or service is paid, the price and what it includes are shown before payment.
Where KPI places a candidate with an employer, KPI is paid a placement fee by that employer. Candidates are never charged a fee to be placed.
Payments are processed by Stripe. KPI does not hold funds in escrow.
What we do not guarantee
We do not guarantee employment, interviews, or any particular outcome from using the platform.
Compensation estimates are estimates. They are built from advertised postings, recorded placements and market data, and an advertised range is not an offer. Treat any figure as a starting point for a conversation rather than a number you are owed.
A completed background check reports what the screening provider found on the date it ran. It is not a prediction of conduct and it does not expire on a fixed schedule.
Hiring decisions are made by employers. KPI does not make them and is not responsible for them.
