Cookies
Effective Date: September 2026
KPI.ca sets a small number of cookies. Two of them are needed for the site to work at all, and one counts visits. We do not use cookies to advertise to you, and we do not sell what they collect.
What we set
| Cookie | What it does | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| __kpi_session | Keeps you signed in. Set when you log in, cleared when you log out. | Essential | 7 days |
| kpi-theme | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so the right one renders before the page paints. | Essential | 1 year |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Counts visits and which pages are read, so we can tell what is useful. We do not use it to advertise to you. | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
Third parties
When you pay for something, verify your identity, or connect a bank account, that step is handled by Stripe or Plaid on their own pages, and they set their own cookies under their own policies. Those steps only happen when you start them.
Turning them off
Every browser can block or clear cookies for a single site, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking the two essential ones will sign you out and lose your theme choice, but nothing else on the site depends on them.
To opt out of Google Analytics across every site, Google publishes a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Your browser's "Do Not Track" setting is also respected by many extensions that block analytics outright.
