
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Building Operator to support the safe, efficient, and day-to-day operation of a portfolio of mixed properties. This role is ideal for a technically minded individual who takes pride in maintaining well-performing buildings, responding proactively to issues, and ensuring building systems remain safe, comfortable, and operational.
Monitor and maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address issues before they become major problems.
Respond to building service requests, equipment issues, alarms, and operational emergencies.
Troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building-related issues.
Operate and monitor building automation and control systems where applicable.
Complete daily building inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and operational records.
Coordinate and oversee contractors, service technicians, and maintenance vendors.
Follow established health, safety, environmental, and emergency procedures.
Maintain mechanical rooms, equipment areas, common areas, and building grounds in a safe and orderly condition.
Assist with energy-efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs.
Respond professionally to tenant and client concerns and ensure issues are followed through to resolution.
Complete work orders and maintain accurate documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other building-management software.
Support preventative maintenance programs and seasonal building preparation.
Participate in an on-call or after-hours rotation when required.
2–5 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, commercial or residential property maintenance, or a related field.
Strong practical knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, pumps, motors, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and determine when specialized contractors are required.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with property management and contractors.
Knowledge of building-management and maintenance systems.
Valid driver's licence may be required
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or participate in an on-call rotation.
Relevant technical training, trade experience, or building-operator education is an asset.
