
Wage Range: $20 - $27 per hour
Our client is looking for a Building Operator who knows that great buildings don’t run themselves—they’re powered by skilled people who keep systems sharp, safe, and seamlessly operating behind the scenes.
Diagnose issues and carry out necessary repairs to ensure proper maintenance and operation of equipment, supporting a strong company image while providing tenants and customers with a safe and healthy environment.
Conduct monthly testing of fire protection equipment, including inspection of valves and alarm bells, to ensure proper operation and maintain the safety of tenants and customers.
Carry out daily inspections of all common and maintenance areas and oversee relamping throughout the property to maintain appropriate lighting levels.
Ensure the property is protected from risks such as theft, fire, liability claims, and operational incidents by strictly adhering to all health, safety, and security procedures, and by promptly reporting any concerns to the appropriate parties to reduce exposure and potential loss.
Monitor the property and related systems to ensure optimal comfort conditions for tenants and visitors.
Address tenant concerns related to HVAC systems by troubleshooting issues or providing recommendations as needed, with the goal of minimizing repair costs and delivering a high standard of customer service.
Valid 5th Class Power Engineering Certification (required).
SMA or SMT (BOMA) designations (asset).
At least 3 years of experience in building operations, HVAC systems, and related equipment; experience in commercial high-rise or mixed-use environments is an asset.
Strong knowledge of general maintenance practices, including plumbing, tiling, drywall, and painting, along with comprehensive familiarity with site operations and current technologies.
Proficient in computer applications and related software, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, management systems, and comparable platforms.
Working knowledge of HVAC electrical and mechanical systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective problem-solver with solid mechanical aptitude, analytical ability, and research skills.
Self-directed with sound judgment and a confident, decisive approach.
Positive, flexible attitude with willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies when required.
